Term 4, Week 1

We welcomed five new students to Room 14 on Monday: Ryan, Zunaira, Lily S, McKenzie and Natasha.
On Monday morning we started the day with a pōwhiri welcoming all the new students, staff and whānau to Tawa School.
We have had lots of fun making new resources for the class like rainbow rice and sparkly playdough.
Monday afternoon swimming and water confidence sessions continue to be a highlight of our week.
The children in Room 14 have been using their Investigation times in a variety of ways.  It will be great to be able to enjoy the outdoors at Investigation times this term.  Thanks to everyone for providing full brimmed sunhats for their children.
Our new play dough has been a great resource for making our names this week.  We love how the children have been able to form the dough into letters and to order the letters in their names.
On Thursday we took part in the nationwide 'Shakeout' earthquake drill.  All of the children followed instructions well and remained calm.  We will be well prepared incase we ever have an emergency.
Thursdays are our library days where we get to choose books to take home to read for enjoyment.  We also get to hear wonderful stories from Angela our librarian.
The students in Room 14 love to share their learning during reflection times.  We love how everyone is so confident to speak in front of the class and share their creative ideas.
During art Friday we created mysterious birds using colourful pastel lines. We love the way all of the birds looks so different and so mysterious.
