Term 4, Week 3

Happy birthday to Lily S who turned five this week.

Room 14 are amazing independent readers.  We love the way the children often choose to spend their investigation times reading.  We love how everyone loves books and stories and can talk about what they read.  Great job everyone!

We have been continuing to develop our water confidence during our swimming sessions on Mondays.
The students have really enjoyed sharing their writing with the rest of the class this week.  We really do have a lot of amazing authors who write exciting and descriptive stories.
One of our Investigation time activities this week was colour mixing.  We had so much fun squirting dye through droppers and watching the colours mix.  We even made some very interesting patterns with the eye droppers and dye.
We enjoy doing kapa haka with Rooms 12 and 8 on Tuesday mornings.  Thanks to our wonderful tutors Te and Liz.
Investigation time is a wonderful time for us to choose our own learning.  We have had some very inquisitive and creative learners this week - especially with crafts and construction.
Another fun investigation activity that we have enjoyed this week has been toast making.  We have been learning to spread our toast and choose appropriate toppings - YUM!
For arts Friday we created our very own owl pictures. The students firstly created a branch for the owls to perch on. They then moved to the painting table where they used a pom pom being held by a clothes peg to dab paint to give their owl a fluffy look. The last thing they had to do was add the little details of eyes and a beak.
On Friday we had a real treat when Mr D came and played some favourite songs for us.  Thanks Mr D.
Fridays are also our PMP day.  We learn so many new motor skills at PMP and these skills help our brains with learning.
