Term 2, Week 6

We have had a busy and exciting short week in Room 14.
We began the week with our trip to Te Papa looking at Pasifika Arts.
A special thank you to our wonderful parent volunteers who supported us on our trip.
On Wednesday we had some awesome writing about our trip and about the things we liked doing on the trip to Te Papa.
Our big book this week has been called 'I like the rain'.  It tells us about all different kinds of weather.  We have been talking about winter and as Wednesday was a very cold day we made some snowflake art pictures.
We had our usual weekly swimming lessons on Thursday.  This week for water safety we  floated in life jackets.
As part of our Pasifika Arts focus we learned about lashing and weaving.  For Friday Arts this week we made some woven ika.  Weaving is a hard skill to learn and we were impressed with the way the children persevered.  We have some amazing weaving experts in Room 14.  Have a look at  some of our creative woven ika.
We ended our week with our wonderful PMP (Perceptual Motor Programme).  This is where the children use their gross motor skills on a variety of equipment.  PMP helps with brain development which also helps with our academic learning.
