Term 2, Week 8

We have had a wonderful week in Room 14 with our provocation for the week being Matariki.
The children have enjoyed sharing songs and stories about Matariki.

On Monday we made beautiful stained glass window stars and lanterns to display in our classroom.
Both of these activities involved a lot of following instructions and using our fine motor skills.

On Tuesday we explored writing imaginary stories.  We have some very creative writers in Room 14.
We have also been very busy with maths.  One of our focuses has been to order numbers in sequence - even if all the numbers aren't there.  This would be a good activity to practise at home.

On Wednesday we had lots of fun making and eating Matariki fairy bread with our friends.

As part of our Matariki theme we wrote about what we are stars at.  We drew some pastel star pictures and published our writing.
We are all super stars in Room 14!
For Friday Arts this week we created line and pattern stars with sharpie and then dyed the background.  Our stars look wonderful hanging in our classroom.
