Term 1, Week 8

Our Joe has been away sick this week.  We have missed you at school and hope you are feeling better.
The students have been very creative this week and we have had a lot of interesting creations being made using recyclable materials.  We have also  loved listening to the children sharing about their creations during reflection times.

During writing we have been imagining going to different places and seeing what we can see.  We have also been encouraging independence and extension of ideas.
Look at some of our amazing writers and their wonderful adventures.
We have been continuing to learn our Te Reo Māori colours and numbers.  On Wednesday we had a little treat.  We sorted some M&Ms into colour groups and then talked about our groups using the Te Reo words for colours and numbers.  We also had fun eating our tasty learning!
As part of our maths learning we have been learning to skip count in twos.
We have been learning the hop like a bunny song to help us skip count.
We also became famous sock designers and designed pairs of socks.
We had to skip count our socks to find out how many socks there were.
Here are some of us having a go at skip counting our pairs of socks.
On Friday we had fun reading the 'Giraffes can't dance' story with the new students who will be joining Room 14 in Term Two.
We then worked hard to cut, paste and decorate some special giraffe puppets that can dance.
On Friday afternoon we had a great time at PMP.  We were jumping, rolling, crawling, moon hopping and using our strong arms to move on the scooter boards.
