Term 1, Week 9

This weeks provocation has been around the solar system and planets.

Here is a song we have been using to help us remember the names and order of the planets.

The students were set a challenge on Monday during investigation time to create a rocket that could blast off the highest from our rocket launcher. It was great to see the students spending multiple investigation times throughout the week testing and making adjustments to their designs. Below are some videos of the rockets blasting off.

For another way of us learning the planet names and how to write them the students went on a treasure hunt around the classroom trying to find the pictures and names of the eight planets and recording them down on their clipboard.

On Tuesday the Ngahere team technology groups made lunch orders that could be purchased by the the Rainbow team. Here are some of the Room 14 students enjoying their special lunches.  Thanks amazing Ngahere team students and teachers.

We have also been enjoying lots of fun maths and collaborative puzzles this week.

On Thursday we did some planet art. We used our marbled shaving foam technique from a couple of weeks ago to make unique colours and patterns for our planets.

Our amazing libraian Angela set up with the help of the Easter Bunny a special Easter egg hunt for the Room 14 students. The students had to find 6 different coloured mini eggs each. Mr Dewar also came to join in the fun.
